Ultimate April Bucket List

Apr 2nd 2018

April showers bring May flowers, and we’re excited to kick off a brand new month with an ultimate April bucket list! While March only seemed to showcase winter’s last hoorah across many states, we’re hopeful this fresh month will bring true spring weather! Use the PillowCubes Ultimate April Bucket List to inspire this month’s adventures and to try to new things:

1) Bake Spring Inspired Cookies

We love the smell of fresh spring air coming through opened kitchen windows… especially when paired with homemade cookies! Use the month of April to get outside of your cookie comfort zone and explore some unique, spring-inspired cookies. Looking for some recipe motivation? Here you go!

2) Buy a Bird Feeder
You don’t have to become a professional birder to spend time enjoying some of spring’s favorite creatures! Purchase a bird feeder (or make your own, our Spring Pinterest board has some ideas), add some seed, and then carve out time to sit outdoors during the earlier morning hours to simply watch and enjoy the birds. You’ll be amazed at how much joy you’ll experience as you observe your new feathered friends snacking on their seed… and you might just pick up a new hobby (birdwatching!) along the way!

3) Celebrate National Pet Day (April 11th!)
If we’re being honest, we all know we don’t need a reason to celebrate our four-legged friends. They make the best of friends (and great pillows!), and provide us with more loyalty than most friends do. National Pet Day is happening on April 11th, so why not do something special for your furry companion? Make homemade dog treats (check out THESE recipes), spoil them with a new premium pet bed, or simply be sure to give them an extra scratch behind the ears!

4) Plant Some Herbs
Not quite ready to delve into the whole gardening thing, but looking for a way to put that green thumb to work? Use April as a time to plant some of your favorite herbs! We suggest waiting until April 15th in general, but be sure to check your local frost predictions as well. Not sure where to begin? Here's an excellent guide to getting started and our Spring Pinterest board has a few ideas, too!

5) Attend A Horse Race
We may not all have the opportunity to sip mint juleps at the Kentucky Derby (taking place in May this year), but it shouldn’t keep us from partaking in a fun springtime tradition of horse racing. Not only is it something unique and different to try, but it gets us outdoors enjoying some vitamin D!  Check out THIS list to see when one is coming up at a location near you!

6) Visit a Local Botanical Garden
The flowers of spring are breathtaking! From dogwoods and cherry blossoms to tulips and daffodils, we cannot seem to get enough of all the bright colors. Pack a picnic and schedule an afternoon at a local botanical garden.

7) Pay Your Taxes (And Get That Refund!)
Okay, this is clearly not the most fun item on the bucket list... but it has to be done AND nothing quite compares to the feeling of freedom when you finish them! So knock 'em out by Tuesday, April 17th and get back to your bucket list fun!

8) Take a Walk in the Rain
Don't let the April showers get you down! Slip on your rain boots, grab an umbrella, and embrace the wetter days. Sometimes a walk in the rain can do wonders to clear your mind and get your creative juices flowing.

9) Spring Cleaning
Call us strange, but we enjoy spring cleaning. There's something about freshly cleaned carpets, shiny windows, and extra fluffy pillows that get us excited for a new season. Looking for some tips behind cleaning your pillows?
Check out our recent blog post for the best tips for cleaning your pillows!

10) Ice Cream, Gelato, Frozen Yogurt... Oh My!
Use the warmer weather and longer days of April as an excuse to try all of your town's best ice cream, gelato, and frozen yogurt spots! In the Knoxville area? Our favorite is
Gelato Brothers, so be sure to check 'em out (the shop has both a brick and mortar store AND a food trailer!).

11) Follow Our Spring Pinspiration Board
We love spring and have created a Spring Pinspiration Board to highlight all of the fun spring-themed decor ideas, recipes, home tips, and pillow ideas. Be sure to
FOLLOW THE BOARD here
