DIY Valentine's Project

Feb 12th 2018

Today, we're sharing a Cupid Approved DIY Valentine’s project perfect for both kids and adults alike! You only need a handful of items to complete it, and the total project time should take about 20 minutes, tops! While kids can absolutely take part in the fun, we recommend adult supervision and suggest ages 8+, as working with a glue gun can be tricky.

WHAT YOU NEED:

● 1 Throw Pillow with a Removable Cover *

● 1 Pencil

● Medium Sized Craft Pom Poms

● Glue Gun (+Extra glue sticks)

● Stencils (Optional)

*We’ve learned that a canvas cover or cotton cover works best for holding the glue

WHAT TO DO:

Step 1: Heat Up Your Glue Gun

Turn up that heat! It's important to ensure the glue is extra hot, so we suggest plugging in for about 5 minutes on high prior to using.

Step 2: Sketch Your Outline

Freehand or trace a shape, word, or phrase of your choice (this is where an optional stencil comes in). To stick with a Valentine’s Day theme, we chose a simple heart... but feel free to get creative!

Step 3: Add the Pom-Poms

Follow the outline of your traced shape (or word or phrase) and add one drop of hot glue per one pom-pom. We've found it to be helpful to have your pom-poms contained in a bowl and close at hand (they like to try to sneak away if they're not contained!). Be sure to work quickly, the hot glue will dry fast!

Step 4: Let Dry

Let the pillow lay flat to dry for at least ten minutes

Step 5: Display Your Pillow for the World to See

Voila! Your Valentine’s Day pillow is complete! We like to use removable pillow covers for easy exchanges depending on the season and/or holiday. The possibilities for custom DIY holiday-themed pom-pom pillows are endless!
