Bring Nature to Life with Outdoor Pillows

Yards are in bloom and the weather is warm; we all want to escape to the deck, porch, or backyard. Decorating magazines are filled with images of outdoor living spaces filled to the brim with patio furniture, fans, pools, and an abundance of flowers, and it makes us all crave that perfect spot to escape to. Whether you have a tiny patio or an expansive back yard, you can make one simple purchase that make your outdoor area perfect -- outdoor pillows.

While traditional patio furniture, from chairs to loveseats, is the typical place for those outdoor pillows, you can do so much more with your outdoor space. Swings are a great addition to your yard, and they don’t have to be for the kids. Hammocks and canvas swings are popular choices, but you can also repurpose an old dining table chair with some rope and paint to have a swing. Add a pillow or two for comfort and style.

A new trend for outdoor spaces is a hanging bed. While you can purchase these, many people make their own with anything from an old bed to a wooden bench to a pallet. Some hanging beds have a headboard, but others are simply a flat hanging space. You really just need some simple tools, paint, rope, and some soft outdoor pillows to toss on top. Of course, it’s better if you add shade (via a tree or an umbrella) and a cold drink. ;)

Of course, there are also more temporary uses for outdoor pillows, such as some big floor pillows for a movie night in the backyard. No matter what you use those pillows for, make the most of the look with bright, bold colors, and mix with some patterns borrowed from nature. You can even take photos of your favorite colorful flowers and have them printed onto fabric for a homemade pillow. Just make sure you get outside and enjoy that summer living space as long as possible!
